Birthday Babe.

Dear Erin Lou,
Listen baby cakes.  Happy Happy Birthday to my very first and most bestest best friend! You are the most amazing, beautiful, talented, and happiest woman I have ever met.  Just thought on this day I would tell you my perspective of our friendship.  I honestly do not know how we became friends... or met... ha.  I am assuming PE, since I'm pretty sure we took every PE class together (Remember how I beat you in push-ups last year? ;)).  As Madi and I have talked about, I really had no real friends until Junior year of high school... haha.  I remember at the end of sophomore year Morp was coming up, and as I was super excited to be 16 and thought it would be fun to go on a date! We were friends for sure, but not super close.  I was talking to some other friends about going in a group, but never felt really comfortable with it.  I remember standing there talking with them, and having the thought that I should ask you if you wanted to go to Morp together.  I thought it was a random thought, but you are an amazing person, so why not?
And then Morp happened.  And you introduced me to all your amazing friends (who are now my bestest most favorite peeps :)) I really appreciated how you welcomed me in, let me sit with you at lunch, and was always smiling.
The next year, Junior year, my mom told me I had no friends.  She was totally right.  Haha.  So she handed me money, said go find some friends and take them to dinner.  So naturally, you were the first person I thought of (and then of course, Kendall).  And from there, I have no clue what happened.
But everyday I am so grateful for your friendship and love.  I know for a fact that the Spirit prompted me to ask you to be in a Morp group with me.  Heavenly Father knew that I needed you in my life, and I am so grateful for that.  Love you, Erin Lou Hardy.

Love, Sadie (your most bestest best friend)

Somehow this is the only photo I have of just the two of us? Hahaha.
P.S. Can't wait to see your face again :)

A Weekend's Worth of Gratitude

Day 10:

This day of gratitude comes with a story.  Last night, my friend came to the BYU game with me, and at curfew I walked him back to his car down at the Smith Field House, which is about 15 minutes from my apartment. After talking for ages in the parking lot, I decided I should probably get home, since it was 1 a.m.  I start the long walk home, and then realize how beautiful everything around me is.  Here in Utah, when we have snow on the ground, it doesn't get fully dark at night, and the sky glows this brilliantly warm purple.  It was also snowing, and I was completely alone walking across campus.  I should have felt terrified to be literally the only one on a 560-acre campus, but I felt so peaceful.  It was the most relaxing time, and gave me so many chances to just think.  So today I am grateful to God for blessing me with such a peaceful experience, as well as for blessing me with safety, and blessing me to be at a church school where everything shuts down at midnight on Sundays.

Day 11:
Decorating for Christmas with my new best friends (aka the roomies)
It took a look of hard work and muscle to cut our tree down in the treacherous bookstore forest...

Overrated and Underrated

I am addicted to this website: Twisted Sifter
I could scroll down and look at the art forever.  Seriously, it's like a worthwhile Pinterest for art and photography lovers.

30 Days of Gratitude

The Slacker Version:

Day 1:
Sharing a bed with these boys every night (And also averaging 9 hours a night for the month of November)
Day 2:
Lost marathon with my best friends
Day 3:
This view, especially seeing it lit up (State Champs, whoop!)
Day 4:
These four things, for making me happy after a long day: Scriptures, hilarious movies, drawing, and to-do lists
Day 5:
Matches, and also art classes
Day 6:
The temple, especially trips made with my sister, and finding candy left on our car.  Also for unexpected revelation
Day 7:
This lost picture for making me laugh.  My best friend goes crazy for her pixie sticks.
Day 8:
My best friend for feeding me breakfast (thanks for hating your cereal, pal)

Feels Good, Pals

Today is one of those days where I was once again reminded why I want to do what I want to do with my life.  After an evening full of freak-outs and anxiety attacks, and then waking up feeling like there was more weight on my chest than Giles Corey could even comprehend, who would have figured that drawing 50+ matches would be my release?  Art is so therapeutic for me, and all I want to do is help people feel as free as I do when I'm drawing, or painting, or sculpting.
Three cheers for the future.
And for art therapy.

Typical

I had intentions to study for my Psych test today, and do lots of art projects, and clean my room, and finish my laundry.  But instead I opted to sit in my room and watch TV.  Hooray for the weekends :)

Days like These

It's days like these when I just want to sit down, watch Modern Family and sew in my Snuggie.  Anyone who brings me a sewing machine and a ride to DI is welcome to join.

I'm on the verge of a mental break-down.  Thank you, Psychology paper.  Ironically, your counseling may be needed.

(Bad) Sport

It's been a rough week in the sports world.  As of three hours ago, every team I care about has lost this week.  BYU, the Cowboys, the Colts, and the Reds.  Rough life, man.  Rough.  I've worn my Reds sweater every day since they lost.  Here's to a new week, athletics.  May my teams win all their games and have their highlights featured on Sports Center.

Brains, eyes, and mustaches

My family doesn't care for this drawing.  But its pretty hilarious.  They just don't understand the mind of an artist...? ;)

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

The lovelies over at C & C are having a give away! Seriously, this is the best.  I have a C & C addiction.  If I could have a sewing machine here, my life would be complete.  Anyways, check out her awesome giveaway. :)

Go Ahead and Make My Day

Emmy wrote me a book.  I almost peed my pants reading it; I loved it so so much.  Getting packages is the best.

BFFs

Nothing is better than talking to your BFF for an hour on the phone, even when you should be studying for psychology. Or going to bed. Nothing is better than hearing her laugh, or remembering how sassy she is, or how hilariously awkward she is.
Dang I miss her. But I know we're each right where we should be, and that we're both doing the right things with our lives. Even if we are 123 miles apart.
It's been a rough past few days, but I am looking forward to what's next.  Thank goodness for my Heavenly Father and His everlasting love.  I don't know how people can survive in this world without Him.  I have also found great comfort in my roomies.  They really do rock.  There are no judgements here in our home.  And good thing too, because they have seen nearly every side of me.  I am also grateful for my family.  They mean so much to me and I am so blessed to have them nearby.  College is a weird stage in life, but I feel so blessed for the opportunity. I found comfort in this quote by President Monson: "Brothers and sisters, my sincere prayer is that we may adapt to the changes in our lives, that we may realize what is most important, that we may express our gratitude always and thus find joy in the journey."

I found my theme song. I'm doing all I can to make this place my home.

Cash Money in the Bank

I keep finding myself listening to Johnny Cash.  He's a classic.  And so amazing.  And so random.  I feel like watching Secondhand Lions and Oh, Brother Where Art Thou all the time.

Moms are for fixing

My mom is the best mom in the world, not just the best I've ever had ;) Today she fixed my diet coke craving, my breakfast food craving, and my missing items problems. Most importantly she fixed my I-miss-my-mommy problem. I love my mom more than anything. She is so amazing and brings me so much joy. If you want to feel loved, go find my mom. Except really, go find your own mom cause I'm not really willing to share.

Our quote board is better than your quote board

Our quote board is almost full.  We talk too much.  Or, more likely, I guess we say too many awkward and weird things.  Kudos to Macks for being the first boy to qualify.  Also we've only been here three weeks.  We're going to need a bigger quote board.  And possibly a bigger wall.

Awkward Times We Live In

My roomies and I started a blog.  It will consist of a collection of our most amazing and awesome awkward stories here at BYU.  And believe me when I say we have an excessive amount of awkward stories.

What Is This Feeling?

It's called Diet Coke withdrawals.  I've been suffering for a few weeks now.  Being a poor college student doesn't quite help with these cravings.

On the plus side, or maybe the weirder side, I drew glass vases for 2 1/2 hours today in art class.  And it was so relaxing and calming.  Boring, but so chill.

Collages at College

My first art project at college is finally done.  I am so pumped.  Good thing it turned out well since I spent $40 just on little pieces of scrapbook paper.
Also, thank you Andre Derain for letting me copy your artwork.  Fauvism rocks.

Horror Stories

Sometimes I listen to other people's horror roommate stories, and it makes me think of my situation.  Since all my roomies are awesome, does that leave me as the crazy one that they will tell stories of?

Today I found myself with a giant art mess (complete with glue on the desk and kitchen table), watching classic movies with the volume turned up all the way, eating cereal out of a gallon sized bowl decorated with flip flops. I must be crazy.

On the plus side, I had a lovely time at the Brigham City Temple open house.

Also, I finally bought envelopes.  So friends, be expecting your letters.

I found a little treat on my phone: quotes from Florida.  Probably only Madi will understand these.  I wish I could go back to Disney and Harry Potter World.  Right now, yes? I've been in school for two weeks and already want a vacation... This could be a long year.

"This must be what an alien feels like in a UFO."- Madi

"Crimes against humanity! I hit my butt."- that one HOSA kid

"Oh creepy!"
"What's creepy?"
"Oh... I thought you weren't... real."- Madi and the Harry Potter woman

"I was a dinosaur in my past life."-Sadie

"My hotel charged me $15 for a dang* plan margarita!"- Some crazy drink margarita lady, who may have been drunk

"When I get really tired I feel violated."- Sadie

"Happy Birthday!!!!!!! It's your birthday!!!! (*cue happy dancing*)"- Happy dancing Honeydukes lady

"That's my worst part of studying.  Common sense.  I couldn't tie my shoes till I was eight."- Some kid on the bus (good luck?)

"They're not gonna be laughing when I talk to them."- Awesome really old guy security guard

"Bhhaoisdiure ajhdujrhahsdjhiuyr jfuure jdsoie. Hahahahahahahahahaha."- Some old man whom we couldn't understand trying to make a joke (followed by "Oh, don't even try that" by his wife)

"It's a celebration of all nations.  But mostly the USA."- Sam Eagle

"Ladies and gentlemen, our time travel has been momentarily delayed."
"Oh heck* no!"- Crazy guy behind us in the Epcot Ball

"Sometimes when I wear only one shirt, I put my pinky finger in my belly button."- Madi

"Wait a minute.  I like that idea. (Cue awkward gang sign on forehead)" - Steven Tyler

"I'm playing my belly drum. Give me all your money." -Madi

BYU Blunderings

"And the point is he's not even real, so he won't even be alive during the resurrection."

"The biggest problem at BYU is that nobody gets married. Right?"

I pretended that the people from the top quote were talking about Dwight Shrute.  Or Voldemort.
